THE accused tank enthusiast who took an armoured personnel carrier on a rampage through the streets of Sydney caused at least $6million worth of damage.
John Robert Patterson, 35, of the western Sydney suburb of Dharruk, was refused bail for a second time yesterday at Penrith Local Court.
Police allege he used the privately owned Trojan armoured personnel carrier to destroy seven mobile phone towers and fences in Sydney’s western suburbs.
An insurance industry source said the estimated cost of the damage was at least $6million.
Police said Mr Patterson stole the $1 million ex-British army vehicle from a former employer.
